Province - Puntarenas
The largest province of Costa Rica is Puntarenas, it is located
along the western part of the country containing most of the Pacific Ocean coastline of Costa Rica. Due to the size of the province and
sometimes referred to as Central Pacific and South Pacific zones of Costa Rica, Puntarenas has 11 cantons of Aquirre, Buenos Aires, Corredores,
Coto Brus, Esparza, Garabito, Golfito, Montes de Oro, Osa, Parrita and Puntarenas.
Puntarenas has within its boundaries some of the most varied and well known places of Costa Rica, such as
Manuel Antonio, Quepos,
Dominical, Drake Bay,
Jaco, Pavones, Tambor, the Nicoya Peninsula and the Osa Peninsula.
The capital of the province, Puntarenas,
is also an important port and harbour town for the fishing industry, and visiting cruise-ships alike. It is Costa Ricas most
important province for tourism, stretching all way from the beach towns of
Mal Pais and Montezuma down to the Panama border,
with an endless variety of large undisturbed beaches and breathtaking sunsets.
Puntarenas also covers mountain areas like Monteverde and Tilaran, the province has the most hotels and a variety of vacation
activities like Rainforest Trams, Crocodile Tours, swimming with Dolphins, the best Surf in all Latin America, and many famous
National Parks like the Ballena Marine
National Park, it also offers some of areas with the greatest Bio Diversity of the world.
